According to CoinDesk, Humanity Protocol reported on June 9 that attackers stole over $36 million in H tokens after compromising an employee laptop containing multiple bridge admin private keys. The breach granted the attacker access to multisignature wallets on Ethereum and BNB Chain. The attacker drained approximately 141 million H tokens from three of six Ethereum wallet keys and minted about 200 million new H tokens using three of five BNB Chain keys, representing roughly 7% of the token's circulating supply, before the project halted affected bridge operations. Storing multiple signing keys on a single device negates the security benefits of multisignature wallet design, which is meant to prevent single points of failure.
