IEA Director Birol: Iran Energy Crisis to Drive Global Electrification

According to IEA Director Fatih Birol, the Iran-related energy crisis will push global electrification forward as governments seek to enhance energy security and shield from fossil fuel price volatility. Speaking on Monday at the Octopus Energy technology summit during London Climate Action Week, Birol said many governments are reassessing their energy strategies, policies, partnerships, and technology choices, and he expects the crisis to provide additional momentum to electrification efforts.
