Market Reprices AI Megacaps: Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft Underperform S&P 500 Since June, Says Burry

According to Michael Burry citing Bloomberg data, the market has shifted its stance on heavy AI capital spending. Since early June, major technology companies with the largest AI infrastructure investments—including Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Oracle—have underperformed the broader market, while Apple, with relatively lower projected capex, has outperformed. Burry noted that forward price-to-earnings ratios for Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, and Meta have all declined from recent peaks, signaling investor reassessment of whether massive AI spending will translate into sufficient returns. "The market has voted, and the answer is clear," Burry wrote on X.
