Meta announced on June 4 the launch of Meta Business Agent, an artificial intelligence system designed to automate customer engagement and support across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. According to Meta, more than one million businesses are already using the Business Agent across WhatsApp and Messenger to manage customer communications, with over one billion active business-related conversations occurring daily across the three platforms. The system enables businesses to handle customer inquiries, product recommendations, appointment booking, lead qualification and sales support. Meta also introduced the Meta Business Agent Platform, a foundational infrastructure allowing companies to build and deploy AI agents at scale, with integration capabilities for external services including Shopify, Zendesk and Shopee. The rollout is being extended globally to allow businesses to operate in customers' local languages.
