On-Chain Investigator ZachXBT Links Dubai Detainees to $19M Fraud and Data Breach Schemes

According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, suspects detained in Dubai on June 7 were perpetrators behind sophisticated social engineering scams and data extortion networks, not innocent crypto entrepreneurs as some media reports suggested. The individuals are linked to over $300 million in total fraud damages.

Danish Zulfiqar Khan (known as "Danny" or "Meech") is connected to the $243 million Genesis creditor theft and the August 2023 Kroll SIM-swap incident, which exposed personal data of BlockFi, Genesis, and FTX creditors and enabled subsequent phishing attacks. Ryan Pepper is implicated in Fractal ID data breaches affecting approximately 300,000 users, while Cameron Cureton is linked to Coinbase social engineering operations. Dubai police seized approximately $18.9 million in assets from the detainees.
