OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Dreaming V3 on Thursday, Cuts Inference Compute by 5x

OpenAI announced Thursday, June 4 the launch of ChatGPT Dreaming V3, an upgraded memory system that automatically learns user preferences from past conversations, uploaded files, and linked apps such as Gmail. Unlike the previous version requiring manual prompts, Dreaming V3 distinguishes between temporary states and long-term facts—for example, differentiating a July trip to Singapore from permanent residency. U.S. Plus and Pro subscribers can access the feature starting Thursday, with rollout to free tier, Pro, and additional countries in the coming weeks. The new system reduced inference compute by approximately 5x, enabling broader availability.
