OpenAI Tightens Advanced Model Access, Requires Hardware-Backed Security by Sept 1

OpenAI announced that members of its Trusted Access for Cyber program must enable hardware-backed Advanced Account Security by September 1, 2026, to maintain access to its most advanced frontier models. Users who fail to comply will revert to default model access levels.

The company said the program is designed for enterprise customers, verified defenders, and legitimate cybersecurity professionals. OpenAI is also implementing additional restrictions on access from high-risk entities and jurisdictions, though specific details have not been disclosed.
