Snap Launches SPECS AR Glasses Priced at $2,195; Stock Falls 9.63% on June 16

On June 16 at the World AR Expo 2026 (AWE 2026), Snap unveiled SPECS, its first consumer-grade augmented reality glasses, with pre-orders starting immediately at $2,195 (requiring a $200 refundable deposit). The company expects shipments to begin in fall 2026 in the U.S., UK, and France. CEO Evan Spiegel stated the device marks "the beginning of a new era of computing," bringing computation into the world around users. SPECS features dual Snapdragon processors, Snap-developed liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) display with 51-degree field of view, and up to 4 hours of battery life. The high pricing unsettled investors; Snap stock (NYSE: SNAP) dropped 9.63% to close at $5.16 per share on the day, with market cap at $8.55 billion.
