South Korea's FSC Signals Positive Outlook on Corporate Digital Asset Market by Year-End

According to Kim Sung-jin, director of the Financial Services Commission, on July 23, South Korea's government is positively evaluating the possibility of opening its digital asset market to institutional investors by year-end. At a conference on institutional investment in Seoul, Kim stated that detailed guidelines for corporate participation would be discussed with relevant agencies in coordination with the second phase of digital asset legislation. He emphasized that corporate trading may differ from retail participation, with institutional investors potentially using third-party intermediaries rather than trading directly on exchanges, similar to equity market practices. The FSC is also prioritizing the establishment of internal compliance standards for institutional digital asset traders.
