According to CNBC, a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was struck by shelling on Saturday (June 28), amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center reported that a vessel in the strait was hit by an unidentified object, sustaining hull damage, though the crew remained safe. The incident occurs as the two nations were expected to be engaged in 60-day ceasefire negotiations aimed at ending hostilities in the region, with both sides accusing each other of violating the agreement terms.
