UK Legislation Imposes $132,000 Donation Cap on Overseas Crypto Investors Supporting Reform UK

According to the Guardian, the UK's new legislation bans all cryptocurrency donations to political parties and enforces a $132,000 annual cap on offshore British donors, effective immediately. The rules force Thailand-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne to face a financial squeeze on his Reform UK funding, which previously operated with minimal restrictions.

To maintain substantial financial influence over the party, Harborne would need to relocate to the UK, immediately exposing his $24 billion fortune to British tax authorities. The Rycroft Review, which informed the new Representation of the People Bill, specifically targeted wealthy individuals who exploit offshore residency status to make large political donations to British parties.
