U.S. Imposes 12.5% Additional Tariff on China Under Section 301 Forced Labor Investigation, July 23

According to Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson, the U.S. Trade Representative's Office released final measures on July 23 (U.S. Eastern Time), imposing an additional 12.5% tariff on Chinese goods and increasing duties on 60 economies under a Section 301 investigation targeting forced labor practices.

China's Commerce Ministry stated the country has established a comprehensive labor law framework and opposes forced labor practices. The ministry described the U.S. action as "typical unilateralism and protectionism," noting the U.S. has not yet ratified the 1930 Forced Labor Convention.
