Xpeng Starts Level 4 Robotaxi Mass Production With In-House Turing AI Chips

According to South China Morning Post, Xpeng has started mass production of Level 4 robotaxis powered by its in-house Turing AI chips. The company plans pilot operations in the second half of 2026 and aims to remove on-site safety officers by early 2027. Each robotaxi uses four of the proprietary chips. The move puts Xpeng in closer competition with Tesla in autonomous driving.
