According to Reuters, on May 15, YouTube, Snap, and TikTok settled claims filed by Kentucky’s Breathitt County School District in federal court in Oakland, California, over whether social media firms should cover school costs tied to student mental health harms. The settlement terms were not disclosed.

Breathitt had sought more than $60 million and a court order to change product features and fund a 15-year mental health program. The case is part of approximately 1,200 similar school district suits in federal court, with the district still scheduled to face Meta at trial on June 15.
