BOJ's Asada Votes Against Rate Hike to 1995 High; Takabe Plans New Dove Appointment

According to Jin10, on June 22, Asada Toichiro, the first policy board member appointed by Prime Minister Takabe Sanae, voted against raising the Bank of Japan's benchmark rate to its highest level since 1995. Takabe plans to appoint another inflation-friendly member this month to replace a retiring board member. Two more hawkish members are also set to leave in about a year, potentially allowing Takabe to significantly shift the composition and policy direction of the nine-member board.
