According to Korean Economic Daily, Bumo Sarang, South Korea’s 7th largest mutual aid association, suffered losses of 493 billion won (approximately $32.73 million) in 2025 after investing 59.5 billion won in daily double-leverage Ethereum ETFs linked to Bitmine stock.

A comprehensive audit of 75 mutual aid associations’ 2025 reports revealed that 42.7% of companies hold total assets below the prepayments owed to customers, meaning they would be unable to fully refund members in case of mass withdrawals.
