Gate News message, April 26 — Evan Tangeman, a 22-year-old resident of California, was sentenced to 70 months in prison on Friday for his involvement in a cryptocurrency theft scheme that defrauded victims of approximately $263 million through social engineering and burglary, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Tangeman pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2025 and admitted to assisting criminal organization members in laundering at least $3.5 million in illegal funds. In addition to imprisonment, he was sentenced to three years of supervised release.
