CFTC Appoints Donald Battle as Chief Data Innovation Officer; SEC Crypto Expert Named Senior Advisor

According to the CFTC, CFTC Chair Michael Selig announced two personnel appointments today. Donald Battle has been appointed Chief Data Innovation Officer, joining the data department and innovation working group. Battle previously served as senior advisor to SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce's crypto working group and held roles in the SEC's Division of Enforcement data science team and the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a virtual currency enforcement officer, with expertise in blockchain forensics, data science, and AI solutions.

J Matthew Haws was named Senior Advisor to the Chair and Chicago Regional Director, bringing over 13 years of derivatives regulation consulting experience with global financial institutions.
