According to Chainalysis, the blockchain analytics firm signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's National Police Agency on June 10 to strengthen virtual asset investigation capabilities. The partnership will provide Korean investigators with access to training programs, professional certification, and hands-on instruction from Chainalysis.
The agreement comes amid a surge in North Korea-linked crypto theft. In 2025, hackers tied to the DPRK were responsible for $2 billion in crypto losses, a 51% increase year-over-year, according to CrowdStrike research. By April 2026, North Korean-attributed theft had already reached approximately $580 million, with major incidents including attacks on Kelp DAO and Drift Protocol.
