According to Gary Dwell, former Katzenbach Rice Garfield & Binger attorney, the CLARITY Act Senate Banking Committee markup hearing scheduled for today at 11:30 PM KST (May 14) may not complete in one day. Approximately 130 amendments have been submitted, a volume that could extend deliberations beyond the scheduled timeframe.
While some consensus has been reached on stablecoin rewards, unresolved amendments remain on public officials’ digital asset restrictions and the Blockchain Regulatory Clarity Act (BRCA). Senator Elizabeth Warren has alone submitted 44 amendments, potentially requiring significant additional review time. Even if voting occurs today, proceedings are expected to extend into late evening or move to the following day.
