According to the European Council, on Thursday, the EU added cryptocurrency exchange HTX to its sanctions list targeting Russia, designating it as one of 18 entities "providing crypto-assets services or payment services established outside of the Union that are significantly frustrating the purpose of the prohibitions" against Russia.

EU officials stated that the Union has repeatedly identified financial institutions and entities providing crypto-asset services that facilitate financial support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, either by connecting to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation's financial message system or by enabling circumvention of EU restrictive measures.
