Hang Seng Index Falls 1.13% During Midday Trading on June 23; Copper Stocks Lead Declines

According to ZhiTong Finance, the Hang Seng Index fell 1.13%, or 268 points, to 23,500 during midday trading on June 23, while the Hang Seng Tech Index declined 2.21%. Morning trading volume reached 176.9 billion Hong Kong dollars. Copper stocks led market declines as investors focused on the potential restart of Panama's Cobre Panama mine and U.S. copper tariff policies, with Fangdd Network (03993) down 8.7% and Jiangxi Copper (00358) down 7.8%. On the positive side, new IPO Star Essentials Materials (06067) surged over 30% on its first day, while software platform HuaJian Future-B (06132) plummeted 46% in its trading debut.
