Iran Accuses U.S. of Escalating Tensions in Strait of Hormuz, Threatens Swift Retaliation

According to state media CCTV, on June 27, Iran's Supreme Leader military advisor Mohsen Rezaei accused the United States of supporting its proxies in the region and creating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, violations of the bilateral memorandum of understanding. Rezaei stated that the U.S. support for proxies breached Article 1 of the agreement, while tensions in the Strait of Hormuz violated Article 5. He warned that any breach of the memorandum would be met with a swift and forceful response.
