According to the Wall Street Journal on May 26, the U.S. Central Command denied resuming the "Freedom of Navigation" initiative, contradicting the outlet's earlier report. The newspaper had previously claimed that a Greek-flagged super tanker carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil was escorted by U.S. Navy vessels through waters off Oman as part of a renewed push of the plan. The outlet acknowledged its initial version incorrectly characterized the naval coordination with the commercial vessel as part of the initiative.
