Zimbabwe Lithium Producers Request Delay to 2027 Concentrate Export Ban, Push Effective Date from January to March or June

According to Zimbabwe media reports, lithium producers on June 18 formally requested the government delay the 2027 lithium concentrate export ban through their association chairman Innocent Rukweza, speaking at the Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines annual conference in Victoria Falls. The producers seek to push the ban's effective date from January 1, 2027 to March or June, citing incomplete local sulfuric acid lithium processing facilities across major mining companies. The association submitted formal complaints to the Ministry of Mines, Permanent Secretary, and Zimbabwe Mineral Marketing Company requesting extended implementation timeline.
