South Korea's National Police Agency Partners With Chainalysis to Combat Crypto Crime

According to Chainalysis, South Korea's National Police Agency signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the blockchain analytics firm in the second quarter of 2026 to strengthen virtual asset crime investigations. The partnership establishes a framework centered on investigator training, professional certification through the Certified Digital Asset Program (CDAP), and joint development of practical investigation programs.

Chainalysis will provide the National Police Agency with access to localized training resources and help develop scenario-based programs reflecting real-world money laundering techniques across multiple blockchain networks. The collaboration comes as cybercriminals increasingly employ sophisticated methods to conceal illicit activity, with North Korean hacking groups estimated to have stolen over $2 billion in digital assets in the previous year alone.
